Explorer Post 460

By R. Pat Humphries, Assistant Advisor to Explorer Post 460

The Fire Commissioners have established a Fire Explorer Post for District 4. The Fire Explorer Post is a youth organization sponsored by the Fire District, and chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and open to both boys and girls between the ages of 15 through 18 years of age. The Fire District is the designated as the “Chartering Organization” and Fire District 4 Operations Division manages the Fire Explorer program.

Exploring is a part of the Learning-for-Life (exploring vocations) philosophy that differs from the normal scouting organizations, but still provides the values that Boy Scouts of America has been doing for over a hundred years. The formation of this post helps build our community ethics and values and establishes a foundation and source of future volunteer firefighters for the fire district.

Firefighter Neal Kimball, Station 43, is the Post Advisor and Pat Humphries, District 4 Education and Information Coordinator; is the Assistant Post Advisor. Neal Kimball is currently the Lead Fire Science Instructor for the Riverside School District Fire Cadet Program.
